The distinction is simpler than the marketing suggests: keratin and nanoplasty change how your hair behaves, hair botox changes what your hair is made of. Everything else follows from that.

The Three, Properly Explained

Nanoplasty: Structural Repair Plus Smoothing
Nano-molecules small enough to enter the hair shaft realign and strengthen the internal bonds while smoothing the outside. It is the only one of the three doing both jobs seriously at once.

Keratin: The Frizz-Control Classic
Keratin protein is infused into the hair's outer layer, sealing the cuticle for shine and humidity resistance. It is the lightest commitment and the most predictable result.

Hair Botox: The Deep Repair Reset
Despite the name, no toxins and no injections. A concentrated protein and amino acid formula fills structural gaps inside damaged hair, rebuilding strength and elasticity.
- Best option for brittle, breaking hair
- Adds no weight — suits very fine hair
- Shortest duration at 3–4 weeks
Japanese Straightening: The Outlier
Worth naming because clients often include it in this comparison. It is not in the same category — it permanently restructures hair rather than temporarily smoothing it.
- Permanent on treated hair
- Irreversible, so a much bigger decision
- For very curly or resistant hair only
How to Decide, in Three Questions
This is genuinely the logic we run through at consultation.
1. Does your hair break when you brush it?
If yes, start with hair botox regardless of what else you want. Smoothing compromised hair gives a poor result and wastes the appointment.
2. Is frizz your main complaint, or condition?
Frizz and humidity point to keratin or nanoplasty. Dullness, roughness and breakage point to repair first.
3. How often do you want to be back in the chair?
Every three months is keratin. Twice a year is nanoplasty. Monthly maintenance as part of a routine is hair botox.

The default recommendation for most Sydney clients with frizz-prone but healthy hair is nanoplasty — it does the most for the longest.
The one-line answer: if the problem is how your hair behaves, smooth it. If the problem is what your hair is, repair it first.

Can These Treatments Be Combined?
Yes, in sequence — not on the same day. The sequencing is where a lot of value gets left on the table.
The most common combination we recommend is repair first, smooth second. Hair botox restores protein and elasticity, and then two to three weeks later the hair is in a condition to hold a keratin or nanoplasty treatment properly. Doing it the other way round means you are smoothing hair that cannot support the result.
A charcoal detox before a smoothing service is the other pairing worth knowing about. Removing build-up first means the smoothing formula meets a clean cuticle and takes far more evenly.
What we do not do is stack two smoothing treatments. Keratin over nanoplasty adds cost without adding result, and the temptation to do it is usually a sign the first treatment was applied to hair that was not ready.
Cost and Commitment Over a Year
Per-appointment pricing makes keratin look like the cheapest option and nanoplasty the most expensive. Across a year the picture usually inverts.

None of these are quoted from a price list, because length, density and condition all move the number. What we can tell you at a free consultation is the realistic annual cost of each path, which is a far more useful figure than a single-appointment price.
